When Hilary Jones was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer, she never thought that just a few years later she would be deliriously happy with her dream man. And now she’s playing matchmaker to hundreds of other singletons.........

Hilary and Bruce wondered what they would be doing if they hadn’t found one another. They’d probably still be single and just a little bit lonely. And that’s when they came up with the idea of an introductions agency.

’There are so may people out there who are looking for a relationship. I think the older you get, the harder it is to meet new people. People our age don’t go to discos any more! And women tend to go out in group, which makes it intimidating fro men to approach them’.

After carrying out extensive market research and taking advice from Sir Alan Sugar, no less, Hilary and Bruce launched Elegant Introductions. The agency, which prides itself on personally vetting its members face to face, has been running for a year and a half now boasts hundreds of clients from all over the north east and Cumbria.

’Our youngest client is 30 and our oldest is 71’ smiles Hilary. ’So there’s a very broad range. And we’ve got out first wedding coming up soon! It’s never too late to find love’
